Amazon Kindle had just released Kindle Scribe which is a note taking ereader . It faces stiff competition from other E Ink tablets such as Kobo, Onyx, and Remarkable 2. Now let’s compare Kindle scribe with Kobo Elipsa.

The Kindle Scribe is Amazon’s first E Ink tablet with an extra-large e-reader. Its 10.2-inch screen is built for handwriting notes. Amazon includes a pen that doesn’t need to be charged so you can immediately start writing in your books or in its built-in notebook app. It has 300PPI resolution, features with 35 LED front lights that can be adjusted from cool to warm. It offers a great reading experience. Amazon says that you can write handwritten notes in your books on the Scribe, but unfortunately you might not write them directly on the page. Instead, you’ll need to write on “Sticky Notes.” Sticky notes will be available on Microsoft Word documents. The Scribe will let you directly mark up PDFs, but writing in books requires using sticky notes. The Scribe officially supports Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; PDF, DOCX, DOC, HTML, TXT, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion. It starts at $340 for a model with 16GB of storage, $389.99 for 32G storage.

Kobo, which is one of the most popular e-reader lineup. In fact, the Kobo Elipsa may be the  most competitive rival. The Kobo Stylus lets you write directly on the page, just like a pen on paper. Plus, you can create your own notebooks, where you can instantly convert your notes to clean typed text, and export them off your device as needed.  It can work with Kobo’s own extensive library, allowing to make notes in PDFs, and other Kobo books and ePubs. It is even able to mark up the library books borrowed from OverDrive and will remember your markings if you later buy the book or take it out again from the library. The Elipsa is a 10.3-inch large E Ink tablet with 227 PPI resolution, which is a little less than Kindle scribe. It does come with front LED lights ,adjusting brightness but lacks the warm light. The stylus needs AAA batteries to work. However, the Elipsa comes with 32GB of storage, handwriting conversion, play audio books, and DropBox support.  Now the Kobo Elipsa is discounted costs as $359.99 and included a sleep cover and a stylus.
